Private Disc Golf Lessons at Throw Coast Disc Golf
Disc golf can be deceptively simple — throw the disc, make the putt, repeat. But anyone who's tried to improve knows that real progress takes more than reps. It takes feedback. That's where a good lesson comes in.
At Throw Coast Disc Golf, we offer private one-on-one coaching built around your game. Whether you're working on your footwork, trying to unlock more distance, or cleaning up your approach shots, a lesson gives you the tools to understand what’s happening — and how to fix it.
You’ll get personal instruction from a Throw Coast pro, access to TechDisc metrics for real-time throw data, and coaching tailored to your goals. Lessons aren’t just for serious competitors. They’re for any player who wants to feel more in control of their game — and enjoy it more along the way.
One-on-One Coaching Options
Both of our coaching options are designed to provide you with focused, actionable feedback — whether you're looking to clean up the basics or fine-tune your form with pro-level tools.
🔹 30-Minute Shop Session – $35 - Book Your Lesson Here
Get a personal form breakdown using TechDisc and hands-on coaching from a Throw Coast Pro. We’ll use throw data like speed, spin, nose & launch angles to help identify key areas for improvement. These sessions take place inside the shop, in the TechDisc/putting area.
🔹 1-Hour On the Course Lesson – $75 - Book Your Lesson Here
Meet up at the Leland Disc Golf Course or Castle Hayne Disc Golf course for an hour of coaching on the course. Work on your backhand, forehand, disc selection, and decision-making — all in real game situations. Ideal for intermediate players seeking to enhance their confidence and consistency on the course.
Who You'll Work With
Lessons are currently offered by Carson Ham, a Throw Coast Pro Team member known for his technical knowledge and approachable coaching style. Whether you're brand new or already competing, Carson meets players where they’re at — with clear feedback and a no-pressure vibe.
We’ll be expanding our list of coaches as more of the team comes online.
Walk-Ins and Free Coaching
Just starting out? Stop by the shop anytime and try a few throws on our TechDisc station — it’s free to use. If one of our team members is available, we’re happy to walk through the basics and help break down your throw. It’s a great way to get early feedback without booking a full session.
What to Expect in a Lesson
Every lesson starts with your goals. From there, your coach will help you focus on the areas that will make the biggest difference in your game:
Beginner to Intermediate Focus:
-
Grip, stance, balance, and release timing
-
How to get clean, consistent spin
-
Backhand and forehand mechanics
-
Disc selection based on your throw style and speed
More Advanced Topics:
-
Adjusting your angles: hyzer, flat, and anhyzer releases
-
Building a reliable forehand
-
Course management and mental strategy
-
Shot shaping and fieldwork routines
We often use TechDisc data during shop sessions to track throw speed, spin rate, angle, and release point — giving you real numbers to build from, not just guesses.
Before your lesson:
Think about what you want to improve — distance, accuracy, putting, etc.
Bring your own discs if possible (especially ones you use often)
Warm up a bit beforehand to get more out of the session
Don’t hold back on questions — coaching works best when it's a two-way conversation
