TechDisc Training at Throw Coast Disc Golf
Know Your Throw. Build Your Game
Whether you're just getting into disc golf or working to fine-tune your competitive edge, understanding your throw mechanics is essential. At Throw Coast Disc Golf, we offer a dedicated TechDisc station inside our Leland, NC shop—free for all players—to help you analyze, improve, and grow your game with real data.
From refining your throwing mechanics to dialing in the perfect release angle, TechDisc technology gives disc golfers the ability to train with purpose. For experienced players, it’s a game-changing way to track progress and refine mechanics. Our team is here for beginners to help interpret the data, break down your results, and recommend discs that match your current skill level, so you’re not wasting money on high-speed drivers or discs that don’t fit your throw.
Whether you’re working on consistency, control, or simply learning how to throw more effectively, TechDisc helps every player build confidence and accuracy with every session.
What is TechDisc?
TechDisc is a professional-grade disc golf analysis tool designed to give players real-time feedback on every throw. Unlike radar guns or slow-motion video, TechDisc attaches directly to a real disc and tracks detailed flight and form metrics, helping you understand not just what your disc did, but why.
Whether you're chasing pro-level precision or just starting to build on some basic form, TechDisc gives you the data to make real progress—fast. At Throw Coast Disc Golf, we use this technology to help players of all levels better understand their form, disc selection, and throwing mechanics.
Here’s what TechDisc measures and why it matters:
Release Velocity: How fast you're throwing the disc (in mph). More speed usually equals more distance, but only when combined with good form and disc selection.
- Spin Rate: The RPMs (rotations per minute) of your throw. More spin helps your disc fly farther and stay stable in the air.
- Launch Angle: The vertical angle of the disc at release is important for controlling height and distance.
- Hyzer/Anhyzer Angle: This measures the tilt of your disc (nose-down, flat, or angled). It is critical for shaping shots around trees or hitting those long sweeping curves.
- Nose Angle: Whether the front of your disc is tilted up or down at release. The right nose angle can make or break a distance throw.
- Wobble: Tracks how much off-axis torque and how much turbulence or drag is created in the throw; less wobble equals more successful flight.
If you're a beginner and some of these terms are new to you, don’t worry—our staff is here to explain each one, walk you through your data, and help you apply it on the course. You don’t need to be a pro to benefit from this technology—you just need the curiosity to learn.
Free In-Shop Use — No Catch, Just Throw
At Throw Coast Disc Golf, we believe the best way to grow your game is to understand your throw. We’re proud to offer free, in-shop access to our TechDisc system any time we're open. There is no booking or fee—just come in, grab a disc, and start dialing it in.
Whether you're a beginner trying to understand what "hyzer angle" means or a seasoned player trying to get more snap on your forehand, you're welcome to use the system as often as you like.
💡 A few things to keep in mind:
Be cool and share the space. If the shop gets busy, be mindful of others waiting to get their throws in. We’re all here to improve; a little courtesy goes a long way.
Need one-on-one help? When staff are available, we’re happy to jump in for a quick form check and disc recommendation based on your results. But for more focused feedback, we recommend booking a private session with one of our shop pros.
Got a crew coming in? For larger groups or team visits, just give us a heads-up. It’s still free to use, but we may not be able to provide staff support without advance notice.
Want help running the session? We can coordinate a small staff fee to make sure you're covered.
Please note: Staff assistance is subject to availability and depends on other customers in the shop.
